A Personal Statement on Phorm and Privacy
June 25th, 2008 by Brooks DobbsWelcome to the initial installment of the Phorm privacy blog. Let me start by introducing myself, as Phorm’s inaugural Chief Privacy Officer. To share a little about my background: I have recently come to Phorm after having spent the past 9 years at DoubleClick (and briefly Google/DoubleClick) where, as VP of Data Protection and Government Affairs, I worked on data privacy, best practices and government relations. For many years now, I have been deeply involved in the online privacy discussion. I have worked with groups like the W3C in its development of the privacy enhancing technology P3P, the Platform for Privacy Preferences. I have worked with the Network Advertising Initiative (recently serving as chairman) on best practices for Online Preference Marketing, a subset of what is often called Behavioral Targeting. And I have worked with regulators and legislators to better understand and to help provide governance to the rapidly evolving online ad industry.
